• About 198 species of migrant birds have also been recognised, out of which almost 100 species regularly visit the country.
• Most of the migrant birds visit Sri Lanka from August/September to April/May. However, Seabirds such as Shearwaters, Petrels, Storm Petrels and many others migrate during December to March.
• Sri Lanka is commonly divided into two zones, the dry zone and the wet zone. The dry zone includes the plains of the north. The wet zone includes the central region and the coast around the Colombo.
